Organic Cotton > Regular Cotton
Water consumption
Organic cotton uses around 71% up to 91% less water than conventional cotton. With the help of better soil management, organic cotton farmers are able to have soils that have better water retention with the ability to withstand drought leading to less need for irrigation.
Chemicals
Regular cotton is showered in pesticides and insecticides and various other chemicals which are both harmful to the growers and the surrounding soils leading to waterways. These chemicals are felt throughout the entire manufacturing process. Organic cotton never uses these types of chemicals.
Cotton Quality
Organic cotton creates longer fibers during the process and is handpicked. These two factors lead to a softer and more comfortable fabric than the use of shorter fibers that are collected with machines.
Air Quality
Organic cotton produces around 46% less CO2. This is accomplished through crop rotations done by the farmers allowing the soils to absorb the greenhouse gases. This also means that nearly 61% less energy is needed to grow the crop!
