About Us
Blue Reason was started in 2019 with the goal of creating a better way to address recycling of our current waste streams. Our first project in tackling waste was in the energy sector. With growing demand in electricity, more energy is needed to be generated to keep up with demand. However, we all want this energy to be created from sustainable and renewable sources. The wind isn’t always blowing for wind turbines and the sun doesn’t always shine on cloudy days with solar. On top of this, these sources use huge amounts of batteries that will eventually end up in our landfills. This leads us to an alternative renewable source: woody biomass fueled power plants. These power plants can generate the power needed to support the demand no matter the weather by using renewable material. One of the misconceptions of this is that raw trees are being cut down for the use in energy production. This however is false.
Blue Reason partners with biomass power plants that only source their materials in an ethical way from scraps that are created from the lumber and paper industries or forest debris that raises the potential for large forest fires. On the flip side, vast amounts of ash byproducts that are generated from this type of energy production. Over 3 million tons of this ash is being produced in the United States alone with more than 70% being landfilled every year. By combining this byproduct with wastes of other industries, we can develop fertilizers, cement replacements and various other products that are 100% recycled performing equal and sometimes better than curent commercial products. We are still in the research and development stage of this project and are also currently looking at other waste streams that need to be addressed.
With this project still under R&D, we asked ourselves what else can we do to get the general public involved? Then we asked, well why Blue Reason in the first place? The name for the company itself came from an image NASA’s Voyager 1 space craft took in 1990. At approximately 3.7 billion miles away, Voyager took a photo of Earth that was named “Pale Blue Dot.” It showed the fragility of our planet in the vastness of space. With this in mind, Blue Reason wasn’t just about recycling anymore. It became more about how can we help carry out the necessary steps so we ensure that we keep our planet blue for generations to come. Solutions that encompass reducing, reusing and recycling.
No one person can tackle this alone. It takes a community coming together and do their part. When you purchase from our eco-friendly products, you are being part of the community in reducing, reusing and recycling. All of the materials used are sustainably sourced, recycled or a blend of both! We challenge you to ask yourself: “What’s your Blue Reason?” Everyone has their own individual motive that drives them to make better choices for the environment.
